Early Childhood Development

The two-year Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development degree is designed to give the student a background for employment in a variety of situations in which the care, health, safety, personal conduct, and development of young children are the primary objectives.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the admission requirements established by the College entry into the Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development program also requires the following:

1. Personal interview with a representative of the Child Development Department.

2. Understanding that excellent moral character is generally considered a prerequisite to employment in our field, background investigations will be conducted by employing agencies to confirm that potential employees have not been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude or any felony.

Childcare workers may be employed in facilities such as:
Hospital-based Child Care Programs
Day Care Centers
Family Child Care Programs
Head Start Child Care Centers
On-Site Programs in Business and Industry
Pre-School At-Risk Programs
Pre-Kindergarten Church_Sponsored Programs

Occupational titles may vary according to the workplace and the duties involved. Among the specialties are the following:
Assistant Teacher      Day Care Worker
