Curriculum Introduction
Learning is a process of acquiring skills and understanding. Children learn best by interacting with their environment. Therefore, at the Child Development Center, we provide materials and activities that will encourage this interaction at each child's own developmental rate. Children's personal interests, curiosities, and initiatives are supported by trained, caring staff leading to new knowledge and understanding of the world around them. At our center, children are participants in the learning process.
Children learn through play and also repetition. Our classroom circle times will provide opportunities to practice simple academics and language skills through interactive, instructional activities and literature. Themes will be the catalysts that encourage exploration and provide structure and flexibility for early childhood education.

Daily Routine
Greeting Time:This is a relaxed time of the day. Educational table toys, library and art activities are available for the children. This gives the teachers an opportunity to greet parents and children. Our goal for this time is to work for a smooth transition for children from home to "school". Important events and feelings can be discussed at this time.
Breakfast/ Lunch/ PM Snack:Our meals are served family style and meet the nutritional USDA requirements. The meals are low in fat and sugar content. Menus are posted throughout the center.
Circle Time:Circle time is an interactive, instructional activity time. During this time, age-appropriate materials (picture cards, ABC's, numbers, shapes, colors, etc.) games, music, literature, calendar and weather concepts are reviewed. These activities build cognitive, social and academic skills.
Interest Centers:These are areas in the classroom are designed to provide opportunities in dramatic play, problem solving, exploration, and expansions related to each theme introduced. The basic interest centers are Block Area, Housekeeping, Manipulative, Creative Art, Language, Computer, and Science.
Small Group Activity Time:During this time period, activities in Math, Science, Creative Art, Writing, and Language provide small group or individual hands-on opportunities for experimentation with a variety of materials. These activities may take place outside or inside.
Large Activity Time:During this time, activities in large muscle, social games, large group music and dance, language and creative movement will occur outside or inside.
Outside Time:Each group will be outside both morning and afternoon. Please dress your child appropriately. Outside air is usually germ free and does not “make your child sick”. If you feel your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before arriving in the mornings. Children are encouraged to wear socks and tennis shoes rather than sandals. If conditions warrant, we will check with weather.com to determine if any air quality concerns exist.
Afternoon Schedule:The afternoon portion of the day consists of a time to rest, opportunities in music, games, classroom responsibilities, manipulative, or other interest areas as well as outside play.
Parent Conference & Notifications:
