Financial Aid Office : How & When to Apply
The best time for you to apply for financial aid is during January or February prior to the academic year that you plan to attend. For example; if you will be attending WCC for the 2009 fall semester you will want to apply as soon after January 1st as you can. May 1st is WCC’s priority application filing date for awarding aid. You may apply for financial aid by completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate aid year.
FAFSA on the Web
FAFSA on the Web is a free U.S. Department of Education web site where you can complete a FAFSA online and submit it via the Internet. You can use FAFSA on the Web on a personal computer (PC) or a Macintosh that is equipped with a supported browser. The address is www.fafsa.ed.gov. Processing will take one to two weeks.
Priority Filing Dates
Students and parents are encouraged to complete all application forms by the College's priority filing dates to be fully considered for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Late applications are accepted after the priority filing dates but funding is not guaranteed. Likewise, students and parents who experience a change in their financial situation and then wish to apply for financial aid after the priority date may still do so. Institutional assistance will be awarded based on availability of funds. All other documents requested by the office should also be submitted no later than May 1 to ensure timely notification of the student's eligibility for financial aid.
